Method of Unlocking:-

• Download and extract the zip files from the links above.
• Insert your modem into the USB Port of your computer.
• Make sure no program is using the modem.
• Open Huawei e173 update folder and double click on (E173Update_11.126.85.00.114_B427)
  
• Accept the terms and conditions for e173 updater and click Next 
• The e173 firmware updater window will now start searching for device.
  
• When you click next after a device has been detected a warning window appears.
• If you are prompted to enter a password, start the huawei modem unlocker
  
• Type in the IEMI number of your e 173 modem and click generate
• You will get two codes in the box one is unlock code and the other is flash code.
• Copy the 8 digit flash code, marked with red ellipse, this 8 digit flash code is the password for the e 173 updater.
• Now you can enter this password and and update your firmware to an unlocked version.

If the updater does not ask for a password, you may be asked to enter unlock code if you try to connect to the internet later. Use the unlock code, marked with green ellipse.
