How to Reset the Huawei E586 to Default Manufacturer Settings

On this page I will show you how to properly reset the Huawei E586 router back to it's original factory defaults. A reset is not the same thing as a reboot. A reboot is a cycle in the power to the unit, nothing more. A reset takes all the changed settings and returns them all to factory defaults.

Warning: A reset erases all the changes you have made to the router during the lifetime of the Huawei E586. Things you need to consider are:

1. The router's main username and password are erased and reverted back to how they were from the factory.
2. If this is a DSL router you will need to re-enter the Internet Service Provider (ISP) username and password. Call your ISP for these details.
3. The wireless information such as SSID and Internet password are erased.
4. Any additional settings such as port forwards or IP address changes are erased.

Reset the Huawei E586 to Default Manufacturer Settings

• Remove the MiFi battery cover
• Power on the MiFi
• Locate the reset button just below the power button, see image below

• Using a paper clip, press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds
• The MiFi will automatically restart and the original manufacturer default settings will be used.

The default username and password for the Huawei E586 are:

Username: Admin
Password: Admin

Note: The username & password are case sensitive

After the MiFi has been reset ALL manually configured settings (e.g. wireless SSID, APN settings) will be lost and the original settings used by the network operator / manufacturer will be restored.
